Position Summary

The Immersion Programs Manager is responsible for creating quality compressed educational programs that expand and strengthen opportunities for students that will also contribute directly to the workforce needs of Greater New Orleans and surrounding parishes. The Immersion Programs Manager will create and oversee a portfolio of innovative demand-driven compressed educational programs, coordinating programmatic activities with instructors, advisory board members, and industry partners. The Immersion Programs Manager will also assist the AVP of Professional and Continuing Education in designing and realizing broader strategic goals, such as launching customized educational programs to meet the needs of industry partners.

The Immersion Programs Manager will work in close collaboration with internal teams including the complementary Apprenticeship Manager as well as a wide variety of external stakeholders, including employers and industry advisory councils, high schools and community colleges, and colleagues throughout Louisiana including but not limited to Louisiana Workforce Commission, LED FastStart, Greater New Orleans, Inc., New Orleans Business Alliance and related government and economic development agencies.

Responsibilities

Immersion Program Development and Management

  • Hire, train, onboard and coach in-class and online practitioners from a variety of high-demand fields including but not limited to tech, business, legal, healthcare, and arts and entertainment
  • Work closely with in-class and online practitioners to continue to refine and expand upon compressed educational program portfolio
  • Develop the immersion programs strategy to meet the needs of industry partners and directly contribute to the workforce needs in New Orleans
  • Manage programs including instructor management, student orientation, student experience, and successful program completion
  • Establish novel ways to ensure effective spending of instructional resources
  • Cultivate a strategy for student recruitment, assessment, development and retention throughout the program lifecycle
  • Monitor program quality and progress through student surveys
  • Promote outreach and retention efforts to ensure quality instructors that meet the needs of students is the standard
  • Mediate occasional conflict and defuse challenging situations as the final line of defense between students and instructors and put proactive solutions in place for future cycles
  • Report successes and challenges to internal and external stakeholders

Strategic Initiatives

  • Work with AVP of Professional and Continuing Education to develop and implement local and regional immersion program plans
  • Identify opportunities for immersion programs innovation and expansion; forge relationships with key stakeholders in targeted industries
  • Coordinate and facilitate meetings with businesses, industry groups, and other partners to explore and incubate new educational opportunities

Program Research/Evaluation and Grant Management

  • Collaborate with instructors on an ongoing basis to ensure effective learning
  • Identify lessons learned through evaluation findings and make recommendations regarding program design
  • Gather and share local and national best practices in immersion programs
  • Attend conferences and meetings related to immersion programs
  • Gather background information about immersion program grants
  • Draft grant proposals and reports on key projects
  • Field inquiries from companies and organizations seeking to partner on educational opportunities
Required Qualifications
  • B.S./B.A. from accredited higher education institution or commensurate competency-based learning experiences
  • Ability to think strategically and execute new ideas in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently as well as in small interdisciplinary teams
  • Ability to cultivate relationships and effectively collaborate with diverse groups of stakeholders
  • Ability to confidently provide constructive feedback to instructors from diverse professional and personal backgrounds
  • Highly organized and ability to manage program observation, online modules, videos, and other teaching documentation
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Team Player with a track record of leading and inspiring others
  • Ability to travel locally and regionally
  • Additional duties as assigned
